Overnight on October 27th - 28th, RCU Online Banking will be undergoing an update. During this window, you will likely experience interruptions to your online banking access. We apologize for the inconvenience.
What's changing?
Multi-Factor Authentication
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be mandatory for all online banking users after the update. MFA is an enhanced security measure meant to keep your banking information protected and secure.
After inputting your username and password to online banking, you will sometimes be required to do one extra step to verify that it is really you attempting to log in.
Upon your first login after the update, you will be prompted to enroll for MFA. You can choose from 4 options:

- Push Notifications: Sends a prompt to your mobile device, allowing you to approve or deny a login attempt with a single tap.
- SMS Authentication: Sends a one-time password (OTP) to your smartphone via text message, which you then enter manually.
- Voice Call Authentication: Delivers a spoken one-time password (OTP) through an automated phone call. It is often used as an alternative to SMS. If you do not have a smartphone, this is the best option for you.
- Web Authentication: Typically involves using a secure key or device-based biometrics (fingerprint or facial recognition) directly within a browser session.
- Push Notifications: Sends a prompt to your mobile device, allowing you to approve or deny a login attempt with a single tap.
How often will I have to use MFA?
When your device has 'trusted' status, you will not have to use MFA.

- On mobile, your device will become 'trusted' after you enroll for MFA, and will not lose its status unless you reinstall the app or remove the device from your 'trusted' list.
- On a web browser, 'trusted' status will expire after 12 hours, so you will usually have to use MFA each time you log in.
